The main conditions of the Byrnecut agreement are that the parties will endeavour to conclude an alliance agreement on underground mining under the Prieska project, committing to provide underground mining and mine production services; Commit to promoting local employment and skills transfer to support industrial change; and commit to cooperating with BEE`s local businesses. As of May 1, 2017, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) has changed the way business agreements are approved. The agreement follows the announcement of the granting of mining rights to the Prieska copper and zinc mine and paves the way for “the benefit of its experience in the development and operation of the Prieska project, designed as a mechanized mining operation for global best practices.”
